Can you find amazing Mexican food in St Thomas, USVI? You can now!
I was so incredibly fortunate enough to have been able to travel to USVI for business a few weeks ago. And I am also fortunate that my cousin and her husband live there and it is only a 2.5 hour flight for me!
They just recently opened their business Benito’s Burritos in Havensite, Charlotte Amalie. I walked up the ramp to find a super cute and quaint location that they have made their own with welcoming reds and yellows and chalkboard signs saying “We make sleeping bags for your rice and beans” and “Usually when you roll something this good, it’s illegal.” which definitely draws you in to see what this place is all about.
Pushing the double doors open, you are greeted by two big smiles and warm welcomes. The smell of fresh corn chips and the aromas of carnitas warm your hungry soul. The twinkle from the decorative patio lights and the taste of the sweet & zesty Passion-Fire Margarita makes you feel like you are enjoying an afternoon on a patio with good friends- with the best burritos you could possibly have! Ben brings his love and passion for Mexican food all the way from San Diego to everyone who lives and visits this island of paradise. Heather brings her love of crafting cocktails to Benitos but they both bring their love of fresh ingredients, hard work and restaurant expertise to anyone who walks into this Island’s only spot that offers authentic and delicious Mexican food.
Ben and Heather started talking about this concept a couple years ago. To watch their insanely hard work and determination come alive and a reality is something that is so inspiring to watch! They built this business from the ground up literally with their bare hands and I am incredibly proud of them! I can’t wait for my next “The Big Guy” Burrito!
